HPR Receives a Rating of Excellent at the State Marching Festival

Congratulations to the Horizon Pride Regiment for receiving an Excellent Rating at the State Marching Festival on Saturday, November 1st.  Captions were also awarded in the areas of Visual, Percussion and Color Guard.  HPR is in the Top 10 in the State ranking for the 6th straight year – the ONLY band in the district with this record.  Great job HPR!!!  The band has qualified to perform at the State Marching Championships on Saturday, November 15th.

Mardi Gras Casino Night – Buy Your Tickets Now!!!

Our largest event this school year will be the annual Mardi Gras Casino Night, which will be held on January 31st, 2015.  To make this event a success, we need your help!  We are asking all families to sell enough tickets to fill an 8-seat table.  We want to raise as much money as possible this year, so that we can continue to cover costs of the Band program without increasing the fees you have to pay out of pocket.  The student that sells the most tickets to this event will receive a $200 credit toward next year’s Band Camp fees!  Last year’s event was tons of fun, and we auctioned off some great prizes.  This year is shaping up to be even better!  We are offering an early-bird discount for tickets purchased before December 1st.  Click here to download info and purchase tickets to this fun event!

Volunteer Spotlight

We have two Volunteers of the Week this week – Jaime Moore and Nate Farrington, parents to freshman flute player Gianna Heaton.  Jaime has volunteered for nearly every game and competition.  Nate is a member of the backdrops crew.  Many thanks to Jaime and Nate for all that you do for the HPR!

Volunteers Needed!!!

We need parent volunteers to help at band events, including upcoming fundraising activities.  We would be grateful for any amount of time you can offer.  Please email hidden; JavaScript is required, if you can help out.

Volunteer Of The Year

IMG_0812Congratulations to Neal Deacon for being selected as the Band Fans Volunteer of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year!  Neal began his volunteering by chaperoning band camp in his percussionist son Matt’s freshman year, and he’s made a repeat appearance at band camp every year since (for a total of four). Now wrapping up his fourth year as a volunteer, Neal has chaperoned football games and competitions, volunteered each year for uniform fitting day, driven the equipment truck, served as an essential member of the HPR backdrops team, donated his home each year for the Band Fans holiday party, and donated equipment and materials to the band.  Neal, thank you so much for your support these past four years.  We will miss you!
