SnapRaise Fundraiser!!

The big fall fundraiser is almost over…there is still time for students to submit emails for family and friends to support the band. 100% student participation has been shown to yield the best results and help ensure a successful program!

Football Home vs Mountain Ridge / Middle School Night – This FridayFriday night the Huskies face off against Mountain Ridge, and the HPR will welcome middle school band students to join our students in the stands and on the field for halftime. Students from feeder middle schools are expected to join the band for the night. Please come out and help us show them a warm welcome to the Horizon band!

First HPR Competition! AZMBA Sabino Competition –  Saturday, October 1stThe Horizon Pride Regiment heads to their first full band competition of the 16-17 season this Saturday, October 1st at Sabino High School in Tucson. Call time for students is 11:20am in the band room. Please ensure students eat a good breakfast/lunch before arriving. Snacks and dinner will be provided later in the day. Volunteers meeting us there will need to arrive at Sabino by 3:30pm. Our performance time is 5:00pm. Awards are at 9:30pm. We expect the students will be ready for pick up once the truck is unloaded at about 1:00am. If the schedule runs behind, we will leave early, rather than stay for awards.

The HPR also has a competition on Saturday, October 22nd, in Phoenix.  More info on this event will be published in a future email.

Concert on Wednesday, October 5th in the Horizon Performing Arts Center

The first concert of the fall season is this Wednesday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. The Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Orchestra will be performing. There is no charge for admission.  Call time for students is 6:30 p.m. Students must wear their concert attire.

Volunteers Needed!

We still need parent volunteers to help at the upcoming football games and competitions. Volunteer activities include moving instruments and sound equipment on the field, backdrops, chaperoning on buses at away games, and setting up the bleachers for the band.  If you are planning to come to the game to watch your student perform, please consider helping out. Please email hidden; JavaScript is required, or reply to this email if you can help.

Snack Donations are Accepted and Appreciated!

The students have been enjoying having snacks provided for them during games and at other times as needed. We are running low! If you are out shopping at Costco or another bulk store, please consider picking up something extra for the hard-working band students! Good snack choices are low sugar-high nutritional value, no-mess snacks. Possibilities may include granola bars, pretzels, string cheese, fruits and veggies, etc. A big ‘Thank You’ to those who have already donated!

HPR Rehearsal Schedule

Evening rehearsals for the Horizon Pride Regiment will continue on Mondays and Thursdays, unless otherwise noted in the Band calendar.  Please continue to check the calendar for the rehearsal schedule, as it could change.  Students should be on the field with their instrument at the start time, so show up early. Remember that Marching Band is a class, so attendance at all rehearsals and events is mandatory.

Thanks to Our Supporters

Thanks to the individuals and businesses who have contributed money, materials, and goods in support of the Horizon band program in 2015-2016. Whenever possible, please support these businesses and recommend them to your friends and family. Would you like to make a tax credit donation?  Please contact Jill Plonski for additional information.  Also, ask your employer about matching gifts for nonprofits.
