Congratulations to Melissa Kennedy, Band Fans Volunteer of the Year

Band mom Melissa Kennedy was selected by band parents and students as this year’s Volunteer of the Year, and she was presented with a commemorative plaque at the instrumental music banquet on May 4. Congratulations to Melissa for a well-deserved recognition, as well as to the other nominees: Neal Deacon, Tiffany Janowski, Susan Liming, and Amy Spinti. Thanks to all of you for your contributions to the band program.

Drumline and Color Guard Auditions

Drumline auditions are currently scheduled for May 28-30 from 3-5pm. Please check the Band calendar or check with Mr. Harrison prior to May 28th for changes to this schedule. If you are interested in auditioning for Color Guard, come to Guard rehearsals on May 28-30. Current time for Guard rehearsals is 3-5pm. Check the Band calendar before May 28 for any changes to the schedule.

Registration Packets Are Past Due

Have you turned in your Band registration packets? If your student will be participating in Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, and/or Color Guard during the 2013/2014 school year, your packets and fees were due on May 1st. If you haven’t returned your forms or paid your fees yet, please do so ASAP. Click here to download a PDF packet.

Summer Events

There’s plenty going on this summer for music students. Marching Band Percussion Mini-Camp will be held May 28-30 from 3-5pm. Marching Band Brass/Woodwind Mini-camp will be held May 28-30 from 6-8pm. Color Guard Mini-camp will be held May 28-30. The current time is from 3-5pm, but it may change to 6-8pm. Please check the Band calendar for updates to the schedule for any of the Mini-camps. Band Camp in Prescott will be held the week of July 15-19. Post-Camp are in late July and early August. Check out the dates, listed on every page of the HorizonBand.org website, and make sure they’re on your calendar before you make your summer vacation plans.

Summer FUNraising

Even though summer is nearly upon us, you can still be raising funds for band fees and music activities while you’re having fun. You’ll probably be seeing a lot of movies this summer, so stock up on Harkins Theatres Gift Cards before school ends. And if you haven’t already, sign up for Doozy of a Deal for big discounts on dining, activities, and other goodies.
