Volunteer of the Year

Each year, Band Fans presents the Tom Stack Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award to one parent who exemplifies outstanding commitment to the Horizon band program through volunteer time, energy, and enthusiasm.

The first award, for the 2009-2010 school year, was presented to Judy Stack in memory of Tom Stack, for whom the award is named. Tom was a dedicated Band Fan, whose smile and positive support he brought to chaperoning Marching Band Camp and football games and driving the equipment truck to performances and competitions.

2010-11 Volunteer of the Year – Julie Davis

Julie Davis has been active in Band Fans for four years, and she served on the board in 2010 in the role of vice president for volunteers. Julie coordinated volunteers for all of the band events, including football games, competitions, concerts, and trips. She also chaperoned most of the football games and competitions in the fall, and trained her successors in coordinating volunteers and managing the Christmas wreath fundraiser. “She seemed to put all of her heart into our band program, not only for her son but for every individual in the band.” “Julie did her volunteering with a good attitude and a warm friendly face.” “She devoted her life to the band every fall.”
